What is a "Personal Knowledge Base" and what is "Evernote?"
A personal knowledge base ("PKB") is a collection of useful information created by a person. It is organized in a manner that provides for its owner ways to organize and interconnect each piece of information so that it makes sense. This sense-making is crucial to convert information into knowledge. The knowledge base is "personal" because what makes sense to one person may not make sense to another. For example, one person may organize information chronologically, while another person may prefer to organize his or her information by subject. Another person may want to organize his or her information so that it can be recalled both by date and subject. A computer-based PKB should allow each learner this kind of flexibility.
The reason this website is called "Evernote@URI" is that we are focusing on the commercial program/webservice called "Evernote" as an excellent location for your PKB. Evernote has been designed to facilitate capturing information in many different (and simple) ways and then syncs your information collection (PKB) to all of your devices, e.g. your smartphone, your laptop, or your tablet.
